| Commissioning Artworks |

Owning a fine work of art is an immensely pleasurable, enjoyable and life enhancing experience. You might have purchased art in the past and still be experiencing the joy of owning a piece which gives you viewing pleasure, on a daily basis. However sometimes it can be difficult to find that ‘special piece’ to fit a particular spot in your home (or office). Commissioning can be a wonderful alternative to buying an already existing work. Why? Because it is both unique and personal to you, the collector. It can be an incredibly rewarding experience knowing that the artwork has been created just for you. We look forward to guiding you through the exciting project of commissioning art. We have a number of artists represented by Gallery 2 on Edward, who are very happy to undertake commissions for specific works. 1. Developing your Brief Firstly, when you have an idea what you want, talk it over with our consultant and we’ll write down all the points discussed. We can then determine exactly what you require. We’ll recommend an artist or artists whom we feel will create the work you want, in the style you want. 2. Knowing you’ll get what you desire There should be little or no anxiety for you, the client, regarding your proposed work. You can see the style of the artists work before we begin your commission and we know the artists to recommend and their passion. The key to a great commissioned work is passion. Enthusiasm for the subject by the purchaser and passion to create by the artist! 3. Pricing The cost of a commissioned work is generally similar to the cost of a comparably sized work from the same artist, plus a small premium, (depending on the complexity of the work). This is fully discussed with you, prior to the commencement of the commission. 4. Payment Once the concept and price is agreed, a 50% deposit is payable and the balance is due prior to delivery or collection of the work. Payment can be made by cash, Bank Transfer (EFT), Eftpos or Credit Card (there is a surcharge for Amex and Diners). 5. Delivery and Freight organisation Gallery 2 on Edward can and does ship artworks to almost anywhere in the world. (We recently shipped a 280kg glass sculpture to the United States). Charges for freight, insurance and a crate, (if needed). are an additional cost , but fully quoted before your commitment. If shipment is to be made by Gallery 2 on Edward the associated costs are payable prior to shipment. There is no problem, on the other hand, if you wish, to organise your own delivery. We will be happy to co-ordinate this for you at no additional cost |
